TRAIL DAY 130
Wed, June 29, 2016 Podiatrist. Had to see him before I left. Feet still painful and I’d take all the help I could get. I got a slightly different approach than Dr. K’s. He advised that some type of liquid solution could help. I forget what it was but I never used it. I don’t remember exactly what he did but I know I left with additional and different foot aides. I experienced temporary relief from hands that knew painful feet but nothing lasted.
Back home, I was getting ready for a return to the trail.
John Paul, Christopher-and-Wendy’s oldest child, had long ago said he would like to accompany me on some of my hike. Perhaps a year or so before, he had said, should I not ever get to fulfill my desire, he would want to carry my ashes on the trail as Martin Sheen did in the movie The Way. It would be a thrill to have him join me. He had finished high school and had a summer job but had arranged his schedule so that he could hike a couple of days with me. It would prove a godsend that I was not returning to my ordeal alone.
